Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, on Monday, administered the oath of office to newly-elected MLA Sudhakar Singh.
Singh was elected on the Samajwadi Party ticket in the Ghosi bypoll on September 5.
The Speaker presented a copy of the Rules of Business for conduct of the proceedings of UP Assembly and also wished success to the newly-elected MLA and asked him to take active part in the proceedings of the house.
Senior Samajwadi party leader Shivpal Yadav, party’s state president Naresh Uttam and party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary were also present on the occasion.
The by-election to the Ghosi assembly seat was held due to the resignation of the sitting MLA Dara Singh Chauhan, who quit and joined the BJP.
The Samajwadi Party retained the seat and its candidate Sudhakar Singh defeated the BJP candidate Dara Singh by over 42,000 votes in the bypoll.
