In 2012, the UN declared the March 21 every year as the International Day of Forests to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of forests. The theme for the year 2023 is “Forest and Health”.
To mark this day, the IIFM fraternity organized a “Plantation Drive” event in line with the mission “LiFE”.
The director of the institute, Dr. K. Ravichandran, along with the faculties, staff and students, planted trees within the institute's premises. Forests provide a variety of tangible and intangible benefits to mankind.
They provide food, life-saving medicines, purify water, clean the air, capture carbon to fight climate change, and improve our well-being.
The Indian Institute of Forest Management has undertaken pioneering work on the principles of sustainable forest management to ensure the sustainable use of forest resources and contribute to the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations.
