Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday charged the BJP with politicizing the Jheeram massacre and said it was an emotional issue for the Congress, which will not tolerate anyone taking it lightly.
Baghel, commenting on statements of BJP leaders, told reporters here that the massacre wiped out frontline leaders of the Congress but the BJP was not serious over the issue.
Several questions are yet to be answered which include why a road opening party was not engaged to clear the roads and why Maoists killed Congress leaders after asking their names and confirming their identity.
It was a pre-planned mass assassination in which the Maoists were searching the leaders and killed them after realizing that Mahendra Karma and Nand Kumar Patel were in the convoy.
It was also objectionable that a judge of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court was transferred when he called for statements of surrendered Maoists in Telangana.
As per media reports, the judge was threatened after the order and bombs were hurled at his residence.
On May 25, 2013, Maoists attacked a convoy of Congress leaders in the Jheeram valley ahead of assembly elections, killing 32 people including then state Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel, former leader of opposition Mahendra Karma and former Union minister Vidyacharan Shukla.
