The gates of Kaliyasot Dam are likely to be opened soon as the dam is 3 feet empty, a gate of Bhadbhada Dam was opened at 10.20 am on Monday, which was closed for about 6 hours in the evening.

During this period, about 100 MCFT (million cubic feet) water was released, which reached Kaliyasot Dam. On the other hand, Kerwa Dam also needs 2 feet of water. A heavy spell is required for opening  the gates of Kaliyasot and Kerwa Dam.

After heavy rains in the catchment area, Bhopal's lifeline Upper Laker  has been filled to full level. Due to this, 2 gates of Bhadbhada Dam had to be opened at 3 am on Saturday. Which were closed in the evening. The inflow of water into Upper Lake increased again on Sunday night. Due to this, a gate of Bhadbhada Dam was opened on Monday morning.

This happened after 20 years, when the gates of Bhadbhada were opened in September instead of July-August. Earlier this had happened in 2003. The gates were opened only in July last year.

After the opening of the gates of Bhadbhada Dam, the inflow of water into Kaliyasot Dam is increasing. The water increased by about 4 feet in just two days. Right now it is 3 feet empty. Water is rising in Kaliyasot after the gate opened on Monday morning. Here, Kerwa Dam is also now 2 feet empty. Water has also increased in Kolar Dam. It needs more than 5 feet of water.

Two gates of Bhadbhada Dam were opened at 3 pm on Friday-Saturday night. Its drone view looked like this last Saturday morning.

So far 1671 feet of water has come into the total 1673 feet Kerava Dam. Now it is only 2 feet empty.

The gates of the dam have not opened even once in this monsoon season. All the gates were opened in July last year itself.

With the opening of the gates of Bhadbhada Dam, the water in Kaliyasot Dam has increased rapidly.
