Kejriwal Government disrupting Chhath arrangements: BJP

Thursday, 16 November 2023 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and MP Manoj Tiwari on Wednesday accused the Arvind Kejriwal Government of disrupting the arrangements of Chhath festival, a symbol of faith and culture.

Sachdeva said in the name of preparations for Chhath Puja, a symbol of faith and tradition, the Arvind Kejriwal government  is trying to do appeasement. Since the formation of the government of late Madan Lal Khurana in 1993, Chhath Puja started being celebrated with great pomp in Delhi, but after the Arvind Kejriwal government came to power it has been playing with Purvanchali sentiments. Sachdeva said in the name of cleaning Yamuna river, Delhi Government has committed corruption and today the condition of Yamuna River is worse than before.

The BJP president said the Kejriwal government is playing with the faith of Hindus and especially the Purvanchalis. He said on one hand Arvind Kejriwal's ministers are making new announcements regarding the preparations for Chhath Puja, while on the other hand the Kejriwal government has given an affidavit in the court saying that Yamuna can get polluted due to Chhath festival.

State Vice President Dinesh Pratap Singh said the Arvind Kejriwal government starts worrying about pollution in Delhi as soon as Diwali starts and it continues till Chhath Puja, whereas the people of Delhi remain troubled for the whole 12 months due to pollution.
