A man died on Wednesday after the scooter he was riding was hit by Rajya Sabha member Niranjan Bishi’s car near Tamian Square under the Patnagarh police station in Balangir district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Tankadhar Biswal of Inapur village in Larambha.
According to reports, the driver of the car lost control over the wheels, following which it hit the scooter. Biswal fell down under the impact of the collision and died on the spot.
Getting information, the Patnagarh police reached the place, recovered the body for postmortem and started an investigation into the incident.
The driver of the vehicle surrendered at the Larambha police station after the mishap.
On the other hand, the MP said he was not present in the car at the time of the accident. Expressing grief over the matter, he said he would extend help to the family of the deceased.
