The Madhya Pradesh Government is going to give a big gift to the differently-abled persons of the state. According to sources in the District Administration an arm-wrestling tournament will be organized for the differently-abled in the state. These tournaments will be at district and divisional as well as state levels. The sources further said that Madhya Pradesh will be the first state in the country to organises such a tournament for the physically disabled persons.
It was further opined that these tournaments will provide an opportunity for the physically disabled persons to make their identity at the national as well as international levels.
The decision to hold the tournament was taken at a meeting held in Bhopal under the chairmanship of Prateek Hajela, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Officials of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities prepared the outline of the tournament. It was also decided that the player who will perform better in the state level tournament through the district will be given a chance to represent the state in the national tournament.
The above meeting was also attended by Commissioner Sandeep Rajak, founder of Panja League Federation Praveen Dabas, co-founder and Bollywood actress Preeti Jhingiani, president of Arm-Wrestling Academy, Gwalior Dr. Keshav Pandey, Vikram Awardee Manish Maurya and State Co-Ordinator of Wheel Chair Cricket Association, Shivanshu Shukla.
Talking to media persons here Keshav Pandey, president of Arm-Wrestling Academy, Gwalior said that the city is becoming a hub of arm- wrestling in the state. He added that with this decision of the government, a new path will be opened for the disabled and they will emerge as stars in the future.
