A youth of Nuapada district tried to immolate himself in front of the local Tehsildar's office after he was allegedly harassed by officials in giving permission to sell his land.
The youth was identified as Jagdish Chauhan (35) of Kalyanpur village under Sadar block in the district. He was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) with 50-per cent burns.
The youth wanted to obtain permission to sell his land due to financial difficulties.
