Saturday, 18 March 2023 | Staff Reporter | DANTEWADA

With the surrender of one more Maoist, police in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Friday said the number of Naxalites giving up violence has crossed the 600-mark.

The drive to persuade the Maoists to join the   mainstream was launched by the police in June 2020.

Hidma alias Dorre Mandavi (37) turned himself in to security forces on Friday citing disappointment with Maoist ideology, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari said.

So far, 602 Naxalites have given up violence in Dantewada.
