An alleged scam in the Public Distribution System (PDS) of rice and duping of people by chit fund companies rocked the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Friday.
The issue of alleged irregularity in PDS was raised by former Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Singh alleged that a Rs 450 crore scam in PDS during the Congress regime and said there was irregularity of 68,000 tonnes of rice in ration shops in the state.
He blamed ration shop holders for the scam and said officials were also involved.
The Food Minister Amarjeet Bshagat told Singh that a probe has been ordered and a report was expected by March 24.
The BJP members were dissatisfied with the answer and sought a House Committee probe into the matter.
The Chair dismissed their plea and amid ruckus the House was adjourned twice.
Similarly, the chit fund scam was raised by BJP's Shivratan Sharma.
BJP members created a din in the House when the Chair rejected their request to allow a discussion over the issue.
Heated words were exchanged after the treasury benches alleged that the chit fund companies flourished in the state under the umbrella of BJP leaders. BJP's Ajay Chandrakar said the action against the chit fund company directors was not satisfactory and demanded stern action against them. Amid chaos, the Chair adjourned the House for five minutes.
