Issues of alleged scam in PDS rice and incomplete houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana again echoed in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Monday.

Former Chief Minister Raman Singh raised the issue of PDS rice through an adjournment motion.

Leveling corruption charges totalling Rs 600 crore, Singh demanded an immediate discussion on the matter "of grave importance".

Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat admitted that physical verification of ration shops had led to detection of irregularities in over 5,000 outlets across the state and the stock was found less than what it should have been.

He said stern action would be taken after a report was submitted.

Amid chaos in the House by both opposition and treasury benches, the Chair declined to accept the motion and allow a discussion.

Similarly, during question hour BJP MLA Punnulal Mohile raised the issue of implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Panchayat Minister Ravindra Choubey informed that since 2019, construction of a total of 62,336 houses were incomplete and construction of 2,36,815 houses were yet to be started.

The Minister admitted in the house that due to lack of funds the state share in the scheme was pending and the Centre had curtailed the target for the scheme due to it. Angry over the answer of the Minister, the opposition members staged a walk out.
