Hanumanganj police have arrested a fraudster who cheated by giving fake silver anklets; the accused would trick by posing illiterate by asking address and pamphlets of weight of silver anklets.
The accused would ask the victim to read the address written on the pamphlet by posing himself illiterate. By confusing the victim he would give him a fake anklet and take money in return. Later the victim would check and it turned out to be fake.
After this, a complainant was lodged with the police and case registered against the fraudsters.
TI Hanumanganj Mahendra Singh Thakur said that on April 29, Babi Kumar, a resident of Mangalwara lodged a complaint of cheating against an unknown youth. Babi told that near the station, a young man posing to be illiterate, gave a pamphlet on which he was asked to read it.
On opening the form, 2 pairs of silver anklets and 25 tolas were written in it.
After this, he showed the anklet kept nearby and got entangled in talking about the need of money. He said that Rs 3000 are needed in exchange for the anklet. The original price of the anklet was Rs 10000. Later on checking it turned out to be fake.
On Saturday, on the information of the informer, the team took into custody Rafiq Mansoori of Jehangirabad. The accused accepted to have committed the crime during interrogation.
