An Assistant Constable of the Chhattisgarh Police was injured on Thursday when an improvised explosive device planted by Naxalites exploded in Bijapur district.
The incident occurred at around 8 am near Bangapal village where the police personnel were patrolling, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Governa told The Pioneer.
The team detected the IED and policeman Sitaram Kudiyam of Nelasnar police station was injured while defusing the explosive, the officer said.
Kudiyam was shifted to a primary health centre at Nelasnar, from where he was referred to the Dantewada district hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
