Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi has instructed all the MCD officials to provide maximum facilities to the devotees visiting the ghats on Chhath festival. “All zonal Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to strengthen the arrangements for Chhath Mahaparv in their respective zones,” she said.
According to MCD, Chhath ghats have been built in 100 wards. Apart from this, 80-90% of the work of constructing ghats in other wards has been completed. On the other hand, an amount of Rs 40,000 per ward has been released by the AAP government to make arrangements for lighting at Chhath ghats. Through this fund, lights have been installed around the ghats in all the wards and arrangements for adequate lighting have been ensured, so that there is no inconvenience. Streetlights have been installed from the approach road to Chhath ghat.
Oberoi stated, “Preparations for Chhath Puja are complete. Ghats have been built in each ward by the AAP councilors and MLAs in more than 100 wards of Delhi and construction work of ghats in other wards will be completed by Thursday”. The Mayor informed that the parking facilities have also been ensured around Chhath Ghats so that devotees would not face any kind of chaos around ghats. Fogging is also being done to prevent mosquitos.
