Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that rural employment got a major boost through the Rural Industrial Parks (RIPA) and Gauthan initiatives.
βThe establishment of C-Mart has greatly facilitated the sale of the products made by self-help groups at RIPAs. People are also trained there to increase their employability,β he said.
He said this while chairing a review meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at Vikas Bhawan in Raipur.
Baghel reviewed the collective programmes and schemes under the DISHA Committee.
At the meeting, he told the officials to achieve the targets within the prescribed time frame.
He spoke about monitoring and evaluating the programmes implemented by the Central government and emphasized the need to increase coordination between the Centre and the state.
The officials gave an assessment of the work done under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
They said about 19.92 lakh families have received work under MNREGA.
Under MNREGA, 5,690 new ponds and 2,915 Amrit Sarovar were constructed in the last five years and over 1.36 lakh other works were completed.
