Friday, 03 February 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Today, on the occasion of MGNREGA Day, MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B extended best wishes to all MGNREGA officials and workers of Jharkhand state. She said that take a pledge to take MGNREGA to the top notch in Jharkhand. MGNREGA labourers who do not have land, such labourers can get employment by getting training under the skill development scheme. He said that after getting 100 days of employment under MGNREGA, the MGNREGA workers will no longer have to migrate. MGNREGA workers can voluntarily get employment by taking training under the skill development scheme.

MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B said that work is also being done to increase maximum participation of women. Women are becoming self-reliant by joining the state government's ambitious Didi Bari Yojana, Birsa Green Village Scheme. The government thinks that the means of livelihood of women should be increased. Several schemes run under MNREGA have paved the way for employment and self-reliance for women. Women are becoming the support of their families by working in Didi Bari schemes, benefiting from well construction schemes or by taking advantage of the construction scheme. Due to this, a new confidence is emerging in them. They are being helped to become financially independent. He said that women can work shoulder to shoulder with men and improve the economic condition of their families.

In Jharkhand, stories of change in the lives of people are being heard through MGNREGA. One such story is of Roshni Gudiya, a resident of Village Gopla, Pakartoli, Panchayat Husir, Block Torpa, Block Torpa, District Khunti. There was a time when all the schemes were implemented for the villagers. She used to work in these, but she did not know how much the wages were. Who is paying and how? When she could not find work, she reached Mumbai with her husband and children. When asked why did you go to Mumbai? She says that at least there was work there, there was plenty of food. Here even work was not available properly. Later she returned to the village with her husband and children.

In fact, his health had started deteriorating. So, he had to return. Returning here she joined the self-help group in the village. After training, she started doing agricultural work, but due to this her family was not able to live well. Along with her husband, she started working as a daily wage worker in nearby villages, but things started changing in the last year. She got work in MGNREGA with the help of the village head. After this they got awareness about their rights. With the help of the villagers of Pakartoli, he helped plan the implementation of MGNREGA in the village. She says, ‘We wrote an application to the employment worker that we want work. Earlier, the employment worker was not giving reception. Then on the pressure of the villagers, he gave the reception. The muster roll came out and we got the job.”

Thus, she and other villagers got an opportunity to work under MGNREGA. She got work in all the works like land levelling, gardening and building dams. Till now, she along with her husband has earned around Rs 20,000 under this scheme. She recalls that she worked for about 90 days under MGNREGA. Due to this, along with their social development, life has also improved. Now she does not even think of returning to Mumbai. She says that there was no one to look after the child in the Mumbai factory. We could not go anywhere for work even taking the child with us.
