Thunderstorm & squall alert issued again for State

The State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with hail/lightning and squalls on Tuesday.

The centre has issued a warning (alert) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/ hail and squalls (60-70 kmph gusting up to 80 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in districts of Garhwal region and at a few places in districts of Kumaon region.

Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/squall (60-70 kmph gusting up to 80 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 33.1 degrees Celsius and 22.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.6 degrees Celsius and 20.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.4 degrees Celsius and 11.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.1 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Moderate rain was reported in some areas with 38 millimetres in Thalisain, 25.5 millimetres in Syunsi, 24 millimetres in Chamba and 20 millimetres in Chandrabani.
