Chhattisgarh Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said on Thursday that the governing committees of the Swami Atmanand Schools, formed by Collectors, will be dissolved.
He said this while addressing journalists on the Assembly premises in Raipur.
The decision has been made in view of the irregularities and mismanagement of the schools. The responsibility to run them will be bestowed on the Education Department.
Agrawal said: “Not only did they play with the future of children, they have also tarnished the good name of Swami Atmanand.
“There is a possibility of a scam of about Rs. 800 crore in the Atmanand Schools reconstruction and concerned projects. Complaints regarding this will be promptly investigated.”
“About Rs. 4.5 crore were spent on renovating R.D. Tiwari school alone. This amount is sufficient for constructing an entire new building.”
