‘Basic facilities should be available for voters at polling stations’

Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K. Ravi Kumar said that in view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the District Election Officer should ensure minimum facilities at all the polling stations as per the guidelines given by the Election Commission of India. He said that the officials should also physically inspect the available facilities in all the polling centres under their area and should also take immediate action against the officials and employees who are negligent in the election work.

Kumar was addressing a meeting today through video conferencing with the election related officials of all the districts regarding the physical facilities available at the polling stations.

Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) Chairman Aditya Ranjan, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, OSD Geeta Choubey, election related officials of all the districts and officials of the Chief Electoral Officer's office were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, addressing a workshop organized for media representatives in his CEO office today, Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said that the role of media is important for clean, fair and peaceful voting. He said that they should play their role in making voters aware to exercise their franchise without any inducement and for ethical voting.

In the workshop, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Neha Arora informed the media representatives in detail about the guidelines of the Election Commission of India on various points of election expenditure monitoring. While Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Singh spoke about the Model Code of Conduct, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Dev Das Dutta spoke about various matters related to elections; Deputy Electoral Officer (Headquarters) Sanjay Kumar spoke about various topics related to media like fake news, paid news. About and System Analyst SN Jameel gave detailed information about the use of various IT applications of the Election Commission. After this, the doubts of all the media representatives were resolved in a question-and-answer session.
