4,66,665 young electors ready to vote on May 25

As many as 4,66,665 young voters in the Ranchi parliamentary constituency belonging to the age group of 18- 29 are registered to cast their vote on May 25 in the on-going Lok Sabha elections this year.

As per statistics shared by the election commission, out of the registered 4,66,665 voters, male voters are 2,30,780, female voters are 2,35,867 and 18 are transgender. The data released also stated that 59,831 is the number of new voters who have been enrolled by filling Form 6 this time. The young electors belong to the Silli, Khijri, Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke Assembly COnstituencies.

In a bid to create awareness among the young voters and also urge them to exercise their right, the district administration is leaving no stone unturned. Awareness drives under the Systematic Voters Educational and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) have been conducted across various colleges in the City and voter’s oath also administered encouraging the students to be responsible citizens and participate in the festival of democracy.

Addressing the students at Ranchi Women’s College, District Election Officer Rahul Kumar Sinha said, “ You take one step and we will take two steps. We do not want to leave any stone unturned to make voters aware and ensure better voting percentage in urban areas. The district SVEEP team is continuously organising programmes to create voter awareness.”

The first voters time in the City are excited yet determined to cast their and exercise their franchise and play their part in shaping the future of the country with hopes that the new government will work towards prioritising employment and job opportunities for all.

Nndini Bhardwaj, a student of BBA from Ranchi Women’s College said, “I am very excited. It seems like a huge responsibility that will make a change and is a great feeling to get a chance to contribute in deciding the leader of the world’s largest democracy. It is our democratic right and we should all practice this,”

MD Shamik from Marwari College, Ranchi, a third year student of B.Sc said, “As a first time voter I feel a very great sense of duty to participate in the fundamental aspect of our democracy. I also feel a sense of determination to stand up for what I believe in and want to make my voice heard.. We are not just going to choose our leader but will also be shaping our future of our town, region and nation.”

Nancy Baraik, a student of BA (J&MC) at Amity University Jharkhand said, “Yes, I am excited to cast my vote for the first time. I believe very vote holds great power and it is important that everyone should exercise their power effectively in shaping the future of the country.”
