The mercury crossed 40 degree Celsius in the State for the first time in 2024 on Monday. Malkangiri recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41 degree on the day, said the Regional Office of the IMD here.
The maximum temperature was 40.5 degree at Boudh and Titilagarh, 40.2 degree at Balangir and 40 degree at Nayagarh, said the weather office.
Five places, Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna, Sonepur, Paralakhemundi and Nuapada, recorded the maximum temperature between 39 and 40 degree.
According to the IMD, Chandbali, Angul, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh, Talcher, Phulbani, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Rourkela recorded the maximum temperature between 38 and 39 deg.
The maximum temperature was 37 degree in Bhubaneswar and 37.6 degree at Cuttack, said the IMD.
