A hasty decision, no impact on LS polls: JMM on Sita’s exit

Wednesday, 20 March 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today termed the exit of senior leader Sita Soren from the party, a hasty decision and denied any impact of leaving her JMM on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The party said that the matter could have been solved if Sita Soren had discussed it in a proper forum and given some time.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that Sita Soren did not  give the party time before taking the decision.

“When the matter came to us around 10 AM, we took it to Guruji (Shibu Soren). He said that he will talk as it was his family matter. But, by then news came that she was going to the BJP. We should have been given some time so that talks could have taken place at the family and the party level to reach a solution,” he said.

On the question of whether Sita’s exit would affect the Lok Sabha elections, Bhattacharya said that only a single vote of Sita Soren would be deducted from JMM’s quota, but overall it will not have any impact on the Lok Sabha elections in the State.

“Many people have gone on a troll earlier also. The area (Santhal Pargana) is an area with a strange composition. It will not affect the party in any way,” he said.

“If someone wants to take a suicidal step no one can do anything. If you have any grief, problem then one should go for proper treatment and should not self-operate,” added Bhattacharya.

The JMM leader also congratulated Sita Soren on behalf of the party. “If any party worker leaves the party, it is not good for the party. But, Sita Soren has decided and resigned, so there is nothing to say in this matter,” he said.

On the question of whether Kalpana Soren or Hemant Soren will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Dumka, he said that the party runs on balance. Every dedicated worker has to be focused. Considering Guruji's decision as universal, every worker of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will be dedicated to ensure the victory of any candidate of Dumka Lok Sabha.
