An accused in an attempt-to-murder case managed to give police a slip by severely injuring a policeman early on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred when a police team had gone to arrest him from his house at Karadapal village of Bato panchayat under the Ramachandrapur police station in Keonjhar district.
Even the fugitive’s family attacked the police team. Police arrested and forwarded to court the absconder’s mother identified as Chhabilata Baral over the alleged attack.
The fugitive was identified as Pradyush Baral from Karadapal village.
Pradyush was absconding for quite a long time. A case was earlier registered against him under Section 307. Police were tipped off in the morning that he had come to his native village. Sainkula outpost in-charge Suresh Kumar Majhi raided his house and attempted to arrest him. However, he bit the cop and fled from the spot.
