The Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine at AIIMS Bhopal on Tuesdayorganized a significant animal bite awareness program under the theme "Aware Today for a Safe Tomorrow."
The event, aimed at addressing the critical issue of animal bites and rabies prevention, was inaugurated by the Executive Director, Professor (Dr.) Ajai Singh. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ajai Singh emphasized that animal bites are not just a medical problem but also a social concern that demands urgent attention.
He stressed AIIMS Bhopal's commitment to taking up the challenge of creating awareness and educating the public on the prevention and management of animal bites, particularly rabies. "Public awareness is crucial in tackling the menace of animal bites, and it is imperative that we extend our efforts beyond the confines of our institution," remarked Prof. Ajai Singh. "By collaborating with local health authorities and engaging communities, AIIMS Bhopal aims to create widespread awareness and ensure a safer environment for all." Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) reaffirmed the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing public health challenges.
Earlier in the program, Professor (Dr.) Yunus, Head of the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine, provided insights into the alarming statistics concerning animal bites in India.
He highlighted that every hour; two individuals lose their lives due to rabies, underscoring the urgent need for preventive measures and awareness campaigns. The event witnessed active participation from AIIMS Community, reflecting the collective resolve to combat the menace of animal bites and ensure a safer future for all.
