The Bhopal Municipal Corporation continues to impose a shut down against marriage gardens or banquet halls operating in the city without a valid license. In the last 10 days this figure has reached 45.
On Monday also, the building permission branch of the Municipal Corporation imposed a lockdown on Sherwood Restaurant and Bar, Kiosk Coffee Restaurant, Countryside Mindos and Tuned Marriage Garden. After Akshaya Tritiya, marriage auspicious times start from July 3.
The corporation staff is taking this action under Madhya Pradesh Marriage Venue Registration Bye-Law-2021. That is, according to the amended bylaws, the operator of any such venue will have to obtain a license from the concerned municipal body, where 50 or more people can gather together. This offline license is available for three years.
After the amendment in the rules, when the Building Permission Branch identified such places in the city, this number reached 210. Of these, there are 100 who have taken proper license from the Municipal Corporation to operate the marriage garden. Therefore, continuous action is being taken against the sites of the remaining 100 operators. Of these, 45 places have been locked.
A marriage garden operator, on the condition of anonymity, said that the Municipal Corporation neither gave any information nor notice about the revised rules. Suddenly the team arrived and asked to show the license. The corporation staff came in a jeep and left after locking one of the gates of the garden.
City planner in-charge Anup Goyal says that we seal any institution without giving notice. Notices are being given continuously to all the operators. Even after this, action is being taken only against those who have not taken the license.
After Akshaya Tritiya, now the marriage auspicious time is in July itself. Experts say that these auspicious times are on July 3rd and 4th. After this it is from July 9th to 15th . That means 9 days are auspicious for marriage in the entire month of July.
Vice President Bhopal Marriage Garden Honors Association Shyamsunder Goplani said that if banquet halls are being operated by taking commercial licenses from the corporation, then to what extent is it right to take two types of licenses for the same work? Such operators should be given a chance to convert their commercial license into marriage garden license. For this, they should also be given written information first. But there are also instructions from the High Court that if any such institution does not have a license then the corporation can take action to shut down.
