2100 kg of poppy husk recovered Haryana man held Punjab Police

Chandigarh: An inter-state drug racket was busted with the arrest of a man and recovery of 2,100 kg of poppy husk, Punjab Police said on Monday. The accused has been identified as Vikram Kumar, a resident of Haryana’s Sirsa. "In a major breakthrough, Barnala police has busted an interstate drug racket and recovered 2100 kg of poppy husk and arrested Vikram Kumar of Sirsa, Haryana," Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.  A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered at Dhanaula police station in Barnala district, he said.

Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests 2 police officers for bribery

Chandigarh: The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Sub-Inspector Sunil and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kamal Singh, both stationed at Rewari's Sadar Police Station, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on Monday. A government spokesperson said that the ACB team received a complaint alleging that the accused officers were demanding a monthly bribe from the complainant by threatening to file a false case under the Gambling Act. After verifying the complaint, the ACB team planned an operation and apprehended both individuals red-handed while accepting the bribe money. The entire process was conducted transparently in the presence of witnesses. The Bureau's spokesperson urged the public to report any bribery attempts by government officials by calling the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau's toll-free helpline numbers: 1800-180-2022 and 1064.

Pb Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for accepting Rs 5000 bribe
 
Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday apprehended Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Nachattar Singh, posted at Police Station Ajnala Amritsar district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000. An official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest took place based on a complaint that alleged that the accused has been demanding Rs 10,000 for favoring his son during the investigation of a case lodged against his son in the police station.  The VB team laid a trap in which the said ASI was caught red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

About 9.73 lakh MT wheat and 5.43 lakh MT mustard procured in Haryana

Chandigarh: The procurement process is progressing smoothly across all the mandis in Haryana and up to now, approximately 9.73 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and about 5.43 lakh metric tonnes of mustard have been procured by all the relevant agencies, an official, spokesperson said on Monday.  All necessary supplies such as crates, Tarpaulins, gunny bags, and other essential equipment are available for the procurement of Rabi crops in every mandi across the state. Strict directives have been issued to all procurement agencies to safeguard the crops from adverse weather conditions like rain and storms during the procurement process. Thus far, there have been no reports of crop damage in any mandi due to rainfall, he added.  The Spokesperson said that senior administrative officers have been assigned to conduct regular inspections at the mandis across all districts. These officers are diligently visiting their designated districts, and taking stock of the mandis so that the farmers do not face any kind of problem in selling their crops. Additionally, strict instructions have been issued to ensure that payments for the purchased crops are made within 72 hours. Till now, an amount of about Rs 1500 crore has been distributed to the farmers on crop purchase. The spokesperson said that 417 centers have been set up for wheat procurement in the state. Apart from this, for the convenience of farmers, 107 procurement centers have been created for the purchase of mustard, 11 for the purchase of gram and 25 for the purchase of barley.
