BSP announces 3rd list of candidates: Sarwar Malik to contest from Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party has released the third list of its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The list includes the names of candidates from both parliamentary constituencies of Lucknow district.

There are 12 names in the list. The BSP will field Nand Kishore Pundir from Ghaziabad, Hitendra Kumar alias Bunty Upadhyay from Aligarh, Dr Gulshan Dev Shakya from Mainpuri, Anshay Kalra Rockyji from Kheri, Ashok Kumar Pandey from Unnao, Rajesh Kumar alias Manoj Pradhan from Mohanlalganj, Sarwar Malik from Lucknow, Imran Bin Zafar from Kannauj, Shubh Narayan from Kaushambi (SC), Indu Chaudhary from Lalganj (SC) and Manish Tripathi from Mirzapur. Suresh Singh has been given the ticket by replacing the former candidate from Mathura seat.

The BSP had already given tickets to Praveen Bainsala from Baghpat, Devbrat Tyagi from Meerut, Rajesh Dwivedi from Akbarpur, Kuldeep Bhadauria from Kanpur, Pooja Amrohi from Agra, Sachchidanand Pandey from Faizabad, Dr. Mujahid Hussain from Amroha, Irfan Saifi from Moradabad, Anish Ahmed Khan from Pilibhit and Majid Ali from Saharanpur.

The BSP had won 10 seats in the 2019 Lok sabha elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party – Bijnor, Saharanpur, Nagina, Shravasti, Lalganj, Ghosi, Ghazipur, Amroha, Ambedkar Nagar and Mirzapur. Earlier in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP could not even open its account.

The BSP is contesting the elections alone in 2024.

Before the 2024 elections, the sitting MPs of the BSP are leaving one after the other. A few days ago, Ambedkar Nagar MP Ritesh Pandey left the BSP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Afzal Ansari, the MP from Ghazipur, has joined the Samajwadi Party while Amroha MP Danish Ali has left the BSP and is now trying to retain the seat on Congress ticket. Shyam Singh Yadav from Jaunpur is also seen moving away from the BSP. It is being said that his meeting with the Congress is going on. Many other MPs are also waiting for their tickets. Even if they do not get the ticket, they will look for their place in another party.

BSP MP Sangeeta Azad and her husband Azad Arimdar have also joined the BJP. Sangeeta Azad is BSP MP from Lalganj.
