The CBI has arrested 7 people including NHAI's Chhatarpur Project Director on charges of taking bribes in exchange for change of ownership of Jhansi-Khajuraho project and issuance of NOC. All were produced in Bhopal court on Monday morning and were sent CBI custody till June 14 was sought from the court. On this, the court has approved the remand of all 7 accused till June 14.

Officers of CBI's Anti Corruption Unit-3 said that Purushottam Lal Chaudhary, Director of Jhansi-Khajuraho Highway Project of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), had taken a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for change of ownership of the project and issuance of its NOC.

In this case, CBI arrested Project Director Chaudhary and NHAI Consultant Sharad Prakash Verma on Sunday at NHAI office in Chhatarpur while taking bribes. Apart from this, CBI has arrested PNC Infratech employees Brijesh Mishra, Shubham Jain, Anil Jain, Satyanarayan Angulari and Prem Kumar Sinha.

CBI's anti-corruption team had registered a case on 8th June against 10 people including Jhansi-Khajuraho highway project director Purushottam Lal Chaudhary. CBI has arrested 7 of these accused. While the CBI team is raiding the hideouts of the accused to arrest others.

The CBI team reached the NHAI director's office on Sunday along with him. After examining the important files from here, they have been seized.

Later, on his information, Brajesh Mishra, project manager of PNC company which is constructing the road, was also arrested. After this, Shubham Jain, Anil Jain, Satyanarayan Angaluri and Prem Kumar Sinha associated with NHAI and PNC were also arrested.

On Sunday, the CBI team took all these 7 people in NHAI vehicles and reached the district hospital. Here, all the officers, employees and the arrested people were medically examined. After this, they left for Delhi with all of them.

These NHAI officers arrested were identified as Purushottam Lal Chaudhary, General Manager and Project Director Jhansi - Khajuraho Highway and Sharad Prakash Verma, Consultant NHAI, Jhansi - Khajuraho Highway Project while the arrested employees of PNC Infratech Limited were identified as Brijesh Mishra, Shubham Jain, Anil Jain, Satyanarayan Angularia,  Prem Kumar Sinha, Resident Engineer, Jhansi - Khajuraho Highway Project.
