CEO Anupam Rajan inspects Media Monitoring Cell

Chief Electoral Officer Madhya Pradesh Anupam Rajan inspected the state level Media Monitoring Cell and Social Media Cell on Friday. Rajan said that information about special events related to elections should be sent promptly. He said that the actual situation of the incidents should be immediately known to the media.

Rajan said that the candidates should provide information about the expenditure incurred on campaigning on Facebook and Instagram. He apprised himeslf about monitoring of the campaigns being carried out on social media.

The Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 has come into effect in Madhya Pradesh from March 16. During the Lok Sabha elections, 24-hour continuous monitoring/recording of paid news related cases, news published in national and state level newspapers, broadcast in electronic media channels and on social media is being conducted. The State Level Media Monitoring Cell is working under the guidance of State Nodal Officer, Commissioner Public Relations Sandeep Yadav. Additional Director Public Relations Dr HL Choudhary has been made the chief nodal officer for all other works including news monitoring and paid news matters.

State Level Media Monitoring Cell (State Level MCMC Cell) is functioning in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nirvachan Sadan, Arera Hills, Bhopal. In this cell, a team of officers and employees of the Public Relations Department is continuously monitoring the news of print and electronic media in three shifts. This work is being carried out continuously in three shifts every day, from 6 am to 2 pm, from 2 pm to 10 pm and from 10 pm to 6 am the next day. State level Social Media Monitoring Cell operates in Narmada Bhawan.

Officers and employees have also been deployed for the maintenance work of clippings of news and media reports published in newspapers and magazines from 6 am to 6 pm. Reserve officers and employees have also been deployed for contingency and alternative arrangements for all three shifts. During this, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Khatri was also present.
