Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan has said that he is not yet aware of the complaint regarding making CM House a party office.
Rajan has said that he has not seen any complaint regarding whether any political meeting has taken place in the CM House. He has said that he will take information in this matter.
Rajan said these things in response to the questions of journalists during the media workshop organized on the topic of media and elections at the Academy of Administration.
Regarding the situation of holding elections when there are 400 candidates, Rajan said that voting can be conducted through EVMs when there are 384 candidates. There is currently no provision for the Commission to use EVMs if there are more candidates than this and if such a situation arises, the Commission will take a decision on it.
During this, information was given that if any candidate has given wrong information related to crime in his affidavit, then the Returning Officer will take action in this matter only when someone complains about the concerned candidate. After the complaint, the affidavit of the concerned candidate is pasted on the board by the Returning Officer and then action is taken on the basis of the complaint. In this, the Returning Officer is instructed that he will not take any action against the candidate, nor will he investigate his affidavit. If any mistake is found, the Returning Officer can take action against which the candidate has the right to appeal.
He can appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer and if he is not satisfied there, he can go to the ECI and then to the court. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Khatri posted in CEO MP Election Office was also present in this workshop.
In this workshop, information was also given about precautions to be taken on paid news and social media. Experts of the Election Commission said that if a candidate posts something on social media from his own blog or through Facebook or If such work is done, certification will be required. In the workshop, information was also given to the media people about making photographs and videos inside the polling stations and the arrangements made during the counting of votes.
