Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on Thursday to promote environmental protection and increasing the green cover across the state.
Sai planted a Dahiman sapling at his official residence in Raipur and urged the people to plant saplings in honour of their mothers.
The Dahiman plant, abundant in the Surguja region, helps in treating various diseases.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed citizens to plant trees dedicating to their mothers.
A state-level 'Van Mahotsav' is scheduled on July 11 in Chhattisgarh during which 70 lakh saplings are to be planted in the state.
