DEO takes stock of voter information slip distribution

Tuesday, 14 May 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In an effort to expedite the distribution of Voter Information Slips and ensure comprehensive coverage among the electorate, District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal embarked on a comprehensive assessment of the distribution process. Accompanied by Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, the District Election Officer traversed various neighborhoods across Jamshedpur city, including Sidgora, Agrico, and Bhaalubasa, to gauge the progress of the distribution efforts firsthand.

The initiative, which commenced on May 7th, aims to conclude the distribution of Voter Information Slips to all eligible voters by May 13th. Emphasizing the critical importance of this endeavor,  Ananya Mittal underscored the necessity for meticulous attention to detail. Booth Level Officers have been tasked with conducting door-to-door visits to facilitate the distribution process and to encourage voter turnout on May 25th.

Additionally, Booth Level Officers assigned to 1887 polling stations in the district are distributing Voter Information Slips along with visually engaging voter guides. These guides include pictorial instructions on how to cast votes via Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and elucidate the various services provided by the Election Commission of India, such as the Saksham-ECI app, Voter Helpline App, Know Your Candidate App, and C-Vigil App. Furthermore, provisions for voter registration, assisted voting for the differently-abled and senior citizens, and postal ballot facilities are also being highlighted.

The front side of the Voter Information Slip delineates pertinent details such as the part number and name in the electoral roll, serial number, name of the polling station, date of voting, and a QR code for easy reference. Meanwhile, the reverse side features a map of the polling station, the name and contact number of the Booth Level Officer, details of alternative documents accepted by the Commission for voting, and other crucial instructions.

The proactive engagement of the District Election Officer and the concerted efforts of all stakeholders underscore the commitment to ensuring a smooth and inclusive electoral process in Jamshedpur.
