DEOs must ensure 100% voting by service voters: CEO

Not even a single voter should be deprived of voting. Eligible voters whose names are still not included in the electoral list should complete the process of adding their names by receiving their application in Form-6. Also, all the applications related to adding names to Form 6 that have been received so far, should be processed immediately and should never be kept pending. FSTs should actively visit their areas and take prompt action on cases of violation of Model Code of Conduct and also ensure to upload these on C-Vigil App, said Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar while holding a review meeting through video conferencing with the District Election Officers-cum-Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of Jharkhand on various topics related to the preparations for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

He said that during the Lok Sabha elections, it should be ensured that the vehicles are managed in such a way that the common citizens do not face any problem in transportation. All District Election Officers should review the vehicle management of their respective districts and keep it organized as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

Kumar said that strong arrangements should be made to transport disabled and senior voters to the polling stations and return them to their homes after voting. Run awareness campaigns to make such voters aware of the facilities available so that they can reach the polling booth and cast their vote. He said that for the voting of disabled and senior voters, he directed to get the verification done once again from the BLO.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the officials should ensure preparations for counting of votes as well. He directed to make arrangements for setting up separate tables for counting tables, round-wise counting of votes and counting of postal ballots. He directed all necessary preparations following the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that there is a provision to conduct the voting of identified service voters through postal ballot. The District Election Officer should ensure 100 per cent voting of service voters. Instructed to distribute voter guides and make adequate arrangements for vehicles at the relocated polling stations. He also directed to activate the volunteer and voter awareness groups at the polling stations and re-train them. He directed to make voters aware about voting by holding a meeting with Anganwadi Sevika/BLO and Voter Awareness Group, Campus Ambassador of the urban area.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora gave information related to preparation of medical plan through power presentation. He said that the medical services attached to the polling stations will provide convenience to the polling personnel as well as the voters. For this, tag the medical team and ambulance along with the polling stations. Helipads are being made for emergency situations. Tagging him also from the polling stations. Air ambulance facility has also been provided for the Lok Sabha elections.

Deputy Electoral Officer Sandeep Singh and other officials of the Chief Electoral Officer's office were present in the meeting.
