Forest Dept ink MoU with ICFRE, Dehradun for research

The Forest Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Jharkhand and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Dehradun inked an MoU for continuous cooperation in the research work conducted by the Forest Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Jharkhand here on Tuesday. The program was organized at the Forest Department Headquarters, where the MoU document was jointly signed by Director General of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Dehradun, Kachan Devi and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Jharkhand, Sanjay Srivastava.

The program was conducted by Forest Conservator and State Forest Arborist, Rista Pankaj and in her presentation she discussed in detail the research work conducted in the state and threw light on the environmental situation of the state. A presentation was also made by Research Dr. Yogeshwar Mishra, and in his presentation, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Research and Training Dr. D.K. Saxena, discussed in detail the features contained in the MoU.

The main objective of the MoU is to set terms and understanding of collaboration in applied research programs, capacity building and strengthening and knowledge sharing.

The thrust areas would be applied forestry research in areas which are important to department of forest, environment and climate change, Establishment of modern nurseries to produce quality planting materials on a sustainable basis etc.

Addressing the program, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Jharkhand, Dr. Sanjay Srivastava discussed in detail the importance of future benefits and cooperation due to the signing of this MoU. Chief Guest Kachan Devi gave necessary instructions to all the scientists to work on externally funded projects, and while addressing all the officers, employees and research scholars of the department, she congratulated them for keeping the institute progressive and thanked everyone.

In the programme, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Wildlife of the Forest Environment and Climate Change Department, Principal Chief Conservator of Wildlife, Shikramat, Human Resource Development Ashok Kumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Research and Training, Dr. DK Saxena, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Campa, participated in the programme. Sanjeev Kumar and other officials were present. Besides, directors of other institutions under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Dehradun and forest officers of all divisions of the Forest Department were also present through video conferencing. Director of Forest Productivity Institute, Ranchi, Dr. Amit Pandey and Group Coordinator Research Dr. Yogeshwar Mishra and others were also present.
