Himachal’s Rs 1,000-cr Bulk Drug Park to Catalyze Economic Growth

Monday, 17 June 2024 | PNS | Una

In a monumental move to boost the state’s economy and healthcare infrastructure, Himachal Pradesh Government on Sunday announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore to establish a bulk drug park in Una district. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri unveiled this ambitious project on Sunday, emphasizing that the initiative will be equally funded by both the State and Central Governments.

“This project will stand as a beacon of development and employment generation, significantly benefiting not only Una district but the entire state of Himachal Pradesh,” said Agnihotri, during the inauguration of a multi-speciality Ayurvedic Hospital in Badhera, underscoring the Government's dual focus on economic and healthcare advancements.

The newly-inaugurated 40-bed multi-speciality Ayurvedic hospital at Himcaps Nursing College promises to set new benchmarks in healthcare services, poised to achieve recognition both statewide and nationally. The event was marked by the presence of the newly-elected Kutlehar MLA Vivek Sharma, symbolizing a collaborative effort towards enhancing the healthcare sector in Himachal Pradesh.

The Bulk Drug Park project is expected to create a substantial number of job opportunities, driving economic growth and positioning Himachal as a key player in the pharmaceutical industry. The Park aims to attract major pharmaceutical companies, fostering a conducive environment for manufacturing bulk drugs and other pharmaceutical ingredients. This initiative aligns with the national objective of reducing dependence on imported drugs, thereby ensuring self-reliance in the healthcare sector.

Agnihotri highlighted that the Park will serve as a model for sustainable development, integrating advanced technology and infrastructure to meet global standards. The establishment of the park will not only create direct employment but also spur ancillary industries, contributing to the overall economic upliftment of the region.
