Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma himself took to the streets to protest against Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant's comment critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While electioneering in former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's Rajnandgaon constituency on Tuesday, Mahant reportedly said that it was only Baghel who could stand up to Modi taking a ‘lathi’ (stick).
BJP cadres took a march to Mahant’s official residence from Bhagat Singh Chowk under the leadership of Sharma and staged a noisy protest outside his house.
Meanwhile, Mahant later said that he had used a Chhattisgarhi proverb which was misunderstood by some media groups.
“I have great honour for the Prime Minister and I apologize if I hurt anyone’s sentiment,” he said.
