Information Commission has taken stricter action after Madhya Pradesh Housing Board failed to reply RTI after two years, GAD has been asked to take action against IAS Shukla.
It has proved costly for Madhya Pradesh Housing Board for not giving the information sought in RTI to the elderly applicant of Gwalior.
Taking a tough stand, the Information Commission has recommended disciplinary action to the General Administration Department against Board Commissioner Chandramauli Shukla for disobeying its orders.
Also, the Commission has given instructions to provide the information sought in RTI within 5 days. If information is not available, answer has been sought in the affidavit.
Instructions have been given to the Urban Development and Housing Department to compensate the elderly applicant with Rs 5000.
The complainant Jai Kumar Jain, a resident of Gwalior, had sought information about the sale of shops in Maharajbada from the Housing Board Gwalior office in February 2021. The office replied that the information is not available, it will be available in Bhopal office. But Jain kept contacting Bhopal office for information but no information was given.
There have been frequent cases in which government offices go against the rules and withhold information through RTI. If no one wants to give information then why not close the Information Commission.
