Officers of the Income Tax department on Monday raided a private coaching centre here, which belongs to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Subrat Chhatoi.
The raid was reportedly carried out over alleged tax evasion. The department also conducted raid at Chhatoi’s residence in the city.
The raids commenced early in the morning while the officials seized various documents, including bank details.
In view of the raid, the students of the institute were not allowed to enter it.
Notably, in March of 2023, a team from the Central Goods and Services Tax (GST) had conducted similar raids at different centres of the private coaching institute in Bhubaneswar on allegations of tax evasion.
