LG Saxena wife chief guest of 52nd Raising Day of Police Families Welfare Society

On the 52nd Raising Day, ‘UPAAN’ of the Police Families Welfare Society was celebrated where Educationist and Social worker Sangita Saxena, who is the wife of  Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena, was the chief guest. 

On Saturday evening, at Adarsh Auditorium of Police Headquarters in the national capital, a cultural programme which was the culmination of a week-long celebration conducted at various Welfare Centres all over Delhi was held. Performances by Delhi Police family members and students of Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung Enclave was a part of the event.

An audio visual showcasing the various activities, schemes and facilities started by the PFWS for the family members of police personnel was displayed. The gathering was made aware about the year long activities conducted by the Society which included establishment of ‘Smita’ (Therapy Centre for specially abled children), Public Speaking Course, Sewing Course, Mission Olympics ( for nurturing the sports talent of children of police families) amongst other activities organised during last one year.

President, PFWS also elaborated on how these activities have helped families of police personnel to become independent and also how the skill development has led to better placement of police family members in good organisations. The 8th Edition of the annual magazine of PFWS- ‘Koshish-EkAsha’, along with a digital version of the magazine, was released.

Delhi Police family members who have just cleared the prestigious UPSC Civil services examination were also honoured. Top three Welfare Centres which actively & successfully conducted various welfare activities throughout the year were awarded for their excellence. Saxena praised the role of police families who stood rock solid behind the police personnel while performing their duties. She lauded the Police Families Welfare Society led by President Ritu Arora in continuously organising welfare activities for the families of police personnel.
