A Maoist was killed in a gun battle on Monday with security personnel in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
The gunfight took place in the forests between Peselpad and Doramangu villages in the Sukma-Telangana bordering areas, Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said.
The District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighters and the Central Reserve Police Force's commando unit were involved in the operation.
After the gun battle ended, the body of a Maoist and a Barrel Grenade Launcher rifle, BGL cells and Maoist literature were recovered from the spot.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
As many as 33 Maoists have been killed this year by security forces in Bastar region's seven districts including Sukma.
Sukma district comes under the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, which will go to polls in the first phase of elections on April 19.
