Saturday, 02 March 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Taking stern note of the death of two pregnant women who were referred from the Community Health Centre (CHC)  at Chaund in Tehri, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the director general of health services to take immediate action against the doctors whose negligence caused the incident.

The minister has also directed the Health DG that the department should ensure biometric attendance of doctors and other staff in all the government health centres of the State. He said that negligence at any level in the treatment and care of the patients will not be tolerated.

Rawat said that it has come to the light that two pregnant women were not given treatment in the CHC at Chaund in Tehri which reflects gross negligence and dereliction of duty. He said that the doctors were not present on duty due to which the pregnant women were referred to the higher centre. Both the women died. Rawat said that a regular doctor and one contractual doctor were found to be absent from duty without permission and the DG has been directed to take punitive action against them.

The minister said that the salary of the doctors, nursing officers, pharmacists and other staff of the centres will be linked with their attendance in the biometric system.  The issue of death of the pregnant women was raised by Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi in Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. The minister informed the house that there are nine sanctioned posts of medical officers in Chaund CHC and three doctors are posted there. He said that a gynaecologist will be deployed for three days in a week on rotational basis at this CHC. Rawat assured that the State will soon receive the services of 350 bonded medical officers. These doctors will be deployed in remote and mountainous areas, he said.
