A 16-year-old boy was thrashed brutally following an altercation outside of his coaching centre in Bhajanpura area of Delhi's northeast. According to the police on Friday, a minor has been apprehended in the case.

According to the FIR registered on April 15, the boy suffered injuries on his head, waist, neck and hand. The Delhi Police, on Friday, said that they have registered an FIR under section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC against seven to eight people and started further investigation into the matter.

According to the complainant, a student of class 10, told police that he went to his coaching centre at 5 pm on April 15, when a person identified as Raghav abused him and upon asking to not do so, he started quarrelling with him.

“A teacher from my institute came and tried to stop the matter. He asked us to come inside the coaching. He then threatened me saying that he will teach me a lesson and said that he will bring more people with him,” the FIR stated.

Around 7 pm, when the victim was returning along with his friend, the accused brought seven to eight people who were also minors. He was asked to plead in front of them asking for forgiveness. However, he refused to do so.

“Upon refusing to do so, they started beating and thrashing us. My friend escaped from there somehow. They all started beating me up. They had some weapons with them with which they attacked my head and along with that I suffered injuries on my waist, neck and hand,” he said, adding that the boys ran away when they saw the victim bleeding.

His friend then returned to him and they went back to the coaching centre. However, the teacher at the institution handed him 500 rupees and asked them to go from there without informing his parents. Upon reaching his home, his father called the police and the victim was taken to JPC hospital where his Medico legal report was made.

Police said that a team has been formed after registering a case. "We are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon," a senior police officer said.
