President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited Keonjhar district on a one-day tour and passed sometimes with the PVTG Juang tribe at Gonasika under Banspal block.
Interacting with the Juang community, known as the original settlers of Keonjhar district, the President said, "Tribals are hankering for love and affection to go ahead. If we all give a little love and affection by making them aware of different schemes implemented for them, then they will prosper.”
“There are several schemes implemented by the Government. But the tribe could not benefit from those due to lack of awareness. We should be aware of them and provide benefits from those schemes so that PVTG will live their life with dignity without becoming a burden on others,” Murmu added.
The President arrived at Raisuan airstrip of Keonjhar on a special helicopter from Mayurbhanj district and went to Gonasika by road. She stressed on education, cultivation, training, employment and health of the tribe. She also urged the Government to ensure education to all and identify the dropout children and impart training as per their ability and provide them employment.
During the interaction the President made the people aware about different schemes and facilities that the Government has implemented to make them developed.
Murmu inaugurated a National Seminar title ‘ Kendujhar ra Janajati : Jana, Sanskruti O Aitiha’ and PVTGs exhibition, and addressed the students at the Dharanidhar University.
