Only political advts pre-certified by MCMC can be published

Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that the election process will be completed in four phases in 29 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of Madhya Pradesh. Voting has been completed in six Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of the first phase.

In the second phase, voting will be held in 6 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies on April 26, in the third phase, voting will be held in 9 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies on May 7 and in the fourth phase, voting will be held in 8 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies on May 13.

Rajan said that political advertisements published on the day of voting and a day before voting in all phases in the state will have to be pre-certified. Only advertisements pre-certified by the MCMC Committee can be published in print media. For this, detailed guidelines have been issued by the Election Commission of India.

Rajan said that the Election Commission of India has made special arrangements for political advertisements to be published in print media on the date of voting and the day before voting. As per rules, for pre-certification of advertisements for publication in print media, political parties/applicants have to submit to the District/State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) on the day of polling and two days before the proposed date of publication of the advertisement on the day before polling and pre-certification will have to be done after applying. Such promotional advertisements can be published in newspapers only after prior certification.

Rajan said that in the second phase, the political advertisements to be published in the six Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies Tikamgarh (SC), Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa and Hoshangabad on April 25 and April 26, will have to be pre-certified. Political advertisements to be published on 6th May and on voting date May 7 will have to be pre-certified in the 9 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of the third phase including Morena, Bhind (SC), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh and Betul (ST).

Similarly, the political advertisements to be published on May 12 and voting date 13th May will have to be pre-certified in 8 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of the fourth phase including Dewas (SC), Ujjain (SC), Mandsaur, Ratlam (ST), Dhar (ST), Indore, Khargone (ST) and Khandwa.
