The Naveen Patnaik Government which is claiming that Odisha is a revenue-surplus State is giving the lowest wages to the labourers compared to other States, said the BJP here on Friday.
Even in a small State like Goa, labourers are getting Rs 357 daily. But in Odisha, it is only Rs 254. Due to lack of work and low wages, thousands of labourers are forced to migrate to other States in search of livelihood leaving their homeland. As a result, work is being done through machines and bribes are changing hands, said BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.
The State Government has failed to provide livelihood to people, The State Government should change its attitude towards the workers and increase their wages. The minimum daily wage should be Rs 300, demanded Sharma.
