Pre-certification of political advertisements published in the media on polling day and a day before voting will be mandatory for all phases, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.
Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said this was necessary to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
Applicants must submit applications to the Media Certification Committee at least two days before the proposed publication date of advertisements, she said.
Chhattisgarh will see polling on April 19 and 26 and May 7.
