In a poignant moment, Samajwadi Party’s prominent MLA Abhay Singh from Gosaiganj found himself overwhelmed with emotion during his visit to the revered Ram Lalla temple in Ayodhya on Saturday. As he bowed before the sacred idol, tears welled up in his eyes, underscoring the emotion that gripped him.
However, amidst this display of fervour, discord within the Samajwadi Party surfaced, with reports indicating a simmering discontent among some of the party’s MLAs.
Allegations have surfaced, suggesting that the Samajwadi Party leadership had obstructed several MLAs, including Abhay Singh, from paying their respects to Ram Lalla. This alleged interference has fueled tensions within the party ranks.
Abhay Singh had previously voiced his dissent over the purported prohibition imposed by the party leadership, openly protesting against the restrictions placed on him and his fellow legislators regarding the pilgrimage to Ayodhya.
“I wanted to come to Ayodhya to have a darshan of Ram Lalla with other legislators. But, I was stopped by the party leadership without assigning any reason,” he said.
Abhay Singh has also come under scrutiny for allegations of cross-voting in support of a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate during the recent Rajya Sabha elections. These allegations have cast a shadow over his allegiance to the Samajwadi Party and raised questions about his alignment with BJP in the fast changing political landscape.
In response to these allegations and reports of party discord, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav refuted claims of any deliberate obstruction, asserting that no MLA was prevented from undertaking the journey to Ayodhya.
