Railways has taken action in the case of cockroaches in the food of Vande Bharat Express running from Rani Kamalapati railway station to Jabalpur.
Railways and IRCTC have fined the contractor. A fine of around Rs 45000 has been imposed on the contractor. The complaint of finding cockroaches in the food was made directly to the Prime Minister by a passenger on social media.
Actually, Dr. who lives in Jabalpur. Shubhendu Keshari was traveling from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station to Jabalpur in Vande Bharat Express train number 20173. That's when a cockroach was found in his food. After the complaint, the case reached Delhi from Bhopal and Jabalpur.
After Keshari's complaint, the Railways took cognizance of the fact that passengers have complained many times about Vande Bharat food before this. The cockroach was found February 1, 2024.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) also took the post seriously and responded to the passenger on behalf of IRCTC on the passenger's 'unpleasant experience' during the journey. He also apologized. Pictures of this thali have also been shared in a post shared by the passenger on social media 'X'.
The catering contract is still with the same contractor. On this incident, railway officials say that Itarsi's company supplies food to Vandebharat Express. Jabalpur Mandal fined Rs 25,000 and IRCTC fined Rs 20,000 on the contractor on the passenger's complaint. However, the catering contract is now with the same contractor.
Railways after the incident, considering the seriousness of the matter, we have imposed a fine of around 25000 on the caterers. Apart from this, IRCTC has imposed a separate fine in this regard so that such incidents do not reoccur.
