The Sambalpur University has suspended Assistant Professor Rajat Kumar Kujur on the charges of misbehaviour and objectionable posts on social media.

Based on a written complaint by the Chairman of PG Council and pending framing of charges against Dr Kujur, the Vice-Chancellor of the university placed the Assistant Professor of the Political Science and Public Administration Department under suspension with immediate effect.

During the period of suspension, Dr Kujur will receive subsistence allowance at the rate equal to leave salary which he would have drawn and DA based on the leave salary. However, no payment shall be made unless he furnishes a certificate that he is not engaged in any other employment, business, profession or vocation, an official order stated.

As per the order, the suspended Assistant Professor will not be allowed to the administrative building or any PG department without prior permission of the university authority and also not be allowed to attend any meeting of the university.

In February this year, Dr Kujur was demoted for allegedly attacking a student and mentally harassing a female colleague. Based on the findings of the Internal Complaints Committee, the VC of the university had reduced his grade to Assistant Professor (Stage-II) in the academic level-11 from Stage-III in the academic level-12.

Earlier, Dr Kujur had been suspended from the service following allegations levelled against him in the past. Later, he was reinstated in the service.
