Social activist Linkan leaves BJD

Tuesday, 02 April 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Social activist and BJD leader Linkan Subudhi quit the party on Monday. She resigned from the post of State general secretary of Biju Mahila Janata Dal and primary membership of the BJD.

The Biju Patnaik State Bravery awardee tendered her resignation letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik citing ‘lack of dignity and respect towards women’ in the party.

“Can’t continue in a party where women empowerment is just a slogan. Women are just the use and throw object and women get less respect and dignity in the party nowadays,” Linkan mentioned in her resignation letter.

The techie-turned-politician Linkan Subudhi was associated with the BJD for the last 10 years. She served the Biju Yuva Janata Dal and Biju Mahila Janata Dal as the State general secretary for two years and five years, respectively. She was also the observer in panchayat elections 2017 for Nayagarh and Ranpur Assembly constituencies, in 2014 General Elections for Bhubaneswar North Assembly constituency and 2019 General Elections for Ranpur Assembly constituency.
